SoftScan is a subsidiary of DiaCut Concrete Sawing and Drilling and was founded in 2005 to fulfill a long recognised need by Builders, Engineers and Architects, to provide a non-destructive method of locating reinforcing, services and defects within concrete structures.
As modern day construction principals lean more and more towards lighter, stronger and more economical methods of building, so has the need increased to reduce slab and column dimensions, thus increasing the risk of structural failure due to the damage of reinforcing through indiscriminate sawing and coring. A substantial amount of our survey work has been to locate and document the positions of Post Tension Cables.
Since its conception, SoftScan has successfully completed hundreds of survey projects for Plumbers, Concrete Sawing Contractors, Engineers and Public Utilities. Listed below are some of our larger survey projects:
Princess Apartments redevelopment: Large scale mapping of floor reinforcing over 12 levels prior to coring for plumbing.
Zinifex Port Pirie Smelters: Provide service mapping prior to site remediation.
Port Augusta Bridge: Survey Adelaide and Whyalla abutments and their associated pre-cast bridge deck beams for reinforcing placement prior to coring for gusset plate installation.
Myer City Complex: Map PTC placements prior to coring.
Even though our history in the GPR arena is relatively short, we have however been a major and active service provider in the construction industry for over 30 years through our concrete sawing and drilling business. SoftScan / DiaCut is a family business incorporating 3 generations of family members. This combined knowledge is invaluable when analyzing structural GPR data as it has provided us with a unique insight into structural design techniques and therefore puts us at the forefront of structural GPR surveying in South Australia.
For over 30 years our staff have been committed to providing honest, prompt and reliable service to to all our clientele and we will continue to do so by investing in ongoing training and equipment.
